Moira Munro was born in Paris, the daughter of a Scottish father
and Armenian mother. She spent her childhood in Paris and Brussels
and studied physics at university. She met her husband whilst
working at a research post at Nottingham University. From Nottingham
she and her husband moved to Glasgow, where they still live, together
with their young daughter.
Having a young child reminded Moira how much she loved children’s
books and she decided to celebrate her fortieth birthday by becoming
a self-employed illustrator. Besides writing and illustrating
children’s books, she also draws cartoons for adults. She
has never had formal training in illustration but drawing was
always a hobby and she taught herself by analysing the pictures
of her favourite illustrators.
Moira has written and illustrated educational titles and a number
of picture books, including two for Piccadilly Press: Hamish –
the Bear who Found his Child and Hamish and the Missing Teddy.
