Does Snogging Count As Exercise?

“In the back of my rough book I wrote a list of hurdles I needed to overcome in order to meet Luke (my friend Poppy’s fit brother) and some of his friends – almost a date! Writing in my rough book had the added advantage of making me look really busy and productive in class.

1. Get Poppy to invite Jez (she has a crush on him but won’t do anything about it)

2. Phone Luke (ignoring obvious second hurdle of family listening in as am forced to use landline at home)

3. Possibly clarify to Luke who I am.

4. Present compelling reasons as to why Luke would want to agree to the above along with his friends, whom I’ve never met.”

Meet Holly Stockwell – a fourteen-year-old who hates all forms of exercise, gets tongue-tied around boys, and whose best friend, Poppy, seems to be developing a new best friend – the rich and gorgeous Claudia. Can she overcome these traumas without it getting any worse?

‘Will entertain and inform young teenage girls in an absorbing and supportive way.’

Does Glitter Count As Camouflage?

‘So, are you going out with him now or what?’ Poppy asked.

‘I don’t know.’ I thought about it. ‘I guess I’ll see him soon and we’ll talk about it.’

‘Will you be all elusive and distant and coy?’

‘Erm…’

‘Or maybe just avoid him until he goes mad with lust for you?’

Gorgeous Luke has just kissed Holly Stockwell. She’s had a crush on him forever. Maybe he’s finally noticed that Holly’s not just his sister’s best friend!

But, before anything else can happen, Holly and Poppy go off to Cornwall for a group camping holiday. Will Luke be waiting for Holly when she gets back? And, when having the right image seems so important, will Holly be brave enough to drop the camouflage and be herself?

"This is really, really funny! It is realistic, funny but with lots of serious stuff too such as how to cope with problems and things teenagers worry about. If you are feeling down in the dumps, read this book."

Do Secrets Count As Sabotage?

'You've got that dreamy look on your face again,' warned Poppy on the bus home from school. I needed to sort that out, otherwise I would accidentally slip into it at home and my mum would find out I was finally a normal fifteen-year-old with a gorgeous boyfriend and freak out. I swear she still thinks I am eight.
'Did I say? Yesterday it was out ten-day anniversary and Luke made me baked beans on toast. I had no idea he could cook!'
'You already told me that,' said Poppy. 'Twice.'

It's amazing . . . Holly Stockwell is actually going out with the gorgeous Luke! Keeping it a secret from her mum (who will certainly wreck everything) seems to be the only problem – until best friend Poppy – Luke's sister – starts to feel left out. Will Poppy really turn to arch-enemy Claudia? And when the chips are down, will Holly dare to tell the truth?
